This open access book aims to synthesize and integrate the research challenges in data science and data engineering. It offers a comprehensive survey of the entire data management stack, from scalable and explainable data analytics to traceable data workflows. This book constitutes the tutorial lectures of the 5th European Business Intelligence Summer School, eBISS 2015, held in Barcelona, Spain, in July 2015.
