Generative Fertigungsverfahren wie Rapid Prototyping oder Rapid Manufacturing wurden für den Prototypenbau entwickelt. Zum anderen können hochkomplexe Geometrien gebaut werden, die mit keinem anderen Verfahren umsetzbar sind. Auf Grund dieser Eigenschaften sowie der immer besser werdenden Qualität der Produkte werden Generative Fertigungsverfahren zunehmend auch für Bauteile und Kleinserien eingesetzt. Dies gilt insbesondere für das Selektive Lasersintern. Deshalb gehen die Autoren nach einem Überblick über die generativen Verfahren und deren Möglichkeiten speziell auf das Selektive Lasersintern von Kunststoffen ein. Sie stellen dieses Verfahren vor und zeigen die Regeln auf, die zur Konstruktion von Produkten eingehalten werden müssen.
