This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 39th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2020, which was supposed to be held in Vienna, Austria, in November 2020, but the conference was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The 28 full and 16 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 143 submissions. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 34th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2015, held in Stockholm, Sweden, in October 2015. The 26 full and 19 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 131 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on business process and goal models, ontology-based models and ontology patterns, constraints, normalization, interoperability and integration, collaborative modeling, variability and uncertainty modeling, modeling and visualization of user generated content, schema discovery and evolution, process and text mining, domain-based modeling, data models and semantics, and applications of conceptual modeling.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 22nd International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2003, held in Chicago, IL, USA in October 2003.The 38 revised full papers presented together with abstracts of 4 invited talks and 7 industrial presentations were carefully reviewed and selected from 153 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on systems and data integration; workflows, patterns, and ontologies; metamodeling and methodology; view and XQuery approaches; web application modeling and development; requirements and evolution; data warehousing and OLAP; conceptual modeling foundations; data mining; innovative approaches; queries; and schema and ontology integration.

We are pleased to present the proceedings of the workshops held in conjunction with ER 2005, the 24th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling. The objective of these workshops was to extend the spectrum of the main conferencebygivingparticipantsanopportunitytopresentanddiscussemerging hot topics related to conceptual modeling and to add new perspectives to this key mechanism for understanding and representing organizations, including the new “virtual” e-environments and the information systems that support them. To meet this objective, we selected 5 workshops: – AOIS 2005: 7th International Bi-conference Workshop on Agent-Oriented Information Systems – BP-UML 2005: 1st International Workshop on Best Practices of UML – CoMoGIS 2005: 2nd International Workshop on Conceptual Modeling for Geographic Information Systems – eCOMO 2005: 6th International Workshop on Conceptual Modeling - proaches for E-business – QoIS 2005: 1st International Workshop on Quality of Information Systems These 5 workshops attracted 18, 27, 31, 9, and 17 papers, respectively. F- lowing the ER workshopphilosophy, program committees selected contributions on the basis of strong peer reviews in order to maintain a high standard for accepted papers. The committees accepted 8, 9, 12, 4, and 7 papers, for acc- tance ratesof 44%,33%,39%,44%, and 41%,respectively. In total, 40 workshop papers were selected out of 102 submissions with a weighted averageacceptance rate of 40%.

This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of two workshops held during the 19th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2000, in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA in October 2000. The 15 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 36 submissions. The LNCS journal Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems focuses on data management, knowledge discovery, and knowledge processing, which are core and hot topics in computer science. Since the 1990s, the Internet has become the main driving force behind application development in all domains. An increase in the demand for resource sharing across different sites connected through networks has led to an evolution of data- and knowledge-management systems from centralized systems to decentralized systems enabling large-scale distributed applications providing high scalability. Current decentralized systems still focus on data and knowledge as their main resource. Feasibility of these systems relies basically on P2P (peer-to-peer) techniques and the support of agent systems with scaling and decentralized control. Synergy between grids, P2P systems, and agent technologies is the key to data- and knowledge-centered systems in large-scale environments. This, the sixth issue of Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems, contains eight extended and revised versions of papers selected from those presented at DEXA 2011. Topics covered include skyline queries, probabilistic logics and reasoning, theory of conceptual modeling, prediction in networks of moving objects, validation of XML integrity constraints, management of loosely structured multi-dimensional data, data discovery in the presence of annotations, and quality ranking for Web articles.
