I Kriminalpolitik. Brott och straff i Sverige sedan 1965 presenteras kriminalpolitikens förändring i förhållande till brottslighetens utveckling. Även om gängrelaterade skjutningar dominerar debatten sedan mitten av 2010-talet, har i ett lite längre perspektiv brottsökningen planat ut, våldsbrotten inte ökat och ungas brottslighet minskat.

Kriminalpolitiken har under samma tid påtagligt ändrat karaktär. Den utmärks alltmer av politisering, skärpta straff och en känslomässig snarare än en rationell hållning. Strafflagstiftningens expansion har varit historiskt exceptionell med tre brottstyper i fokus: narkotika, våld och organiserad brottslighet.

I denna andra upplaga har utvecklingen uppdaterats vad gäller såväl tabeller och diagram som den kriminalpolitiska utvecklingen. Boken har reviderats avsevärt. Analysen lägger nu särskild vikt vid högerpopulismens framträdande och vid välfärdsstatens logik för att förstå utvecklingen mot kraven på alltmer straff, polis och fängelse.

Boken riktar sig främst till högskolan. Den är dock också av stort värde för alla som vill sätta sig in i en fråga som kommit att bli en av de mest centrala i samhällsdebatten.

Introduktion till kriminologi är en uppskattad lärobok som i sin tredje upplaga har delats upp i två volymer. I volym I ligger fokus på kriminologins kunskaper om brottslighetens omfattning, karaktär och orsaker. I föreliggande volym II riktas i stället blickarna mot samhällets reaktion på brottslighet – mot brottsbekämpning och brottsprevention. Syftet är dels att diskutera om och i så fall hur kriminologiska kunskaper kan appliceras på samhällets sätt att reagera på brott, dels att presentera en del av den forskning som bedrivs inom kriminologin om effekterna av olika åtgärder mot brott.Boken lyfter fram de centrala inriktningarna inom denna starkt expanderande forskning samt introducerar ett sammanhållet sätt att se på denna komplexa problematik. Särskild uppmärksamhet riktas mot brottsoffer­frågor eller viktimologi, som forskning om brottsoffer benämns samt mot de avsedda och oavsedda effekterna som åtgärder mot brott leder till. Vi känner den som ÅRHUNDRADETS RÄTTSSKANDAL, historien om Sture Bergwall (alias Thomas Quick) som åren 1994–2001 dömdes skyldig till åtta mord han inte skulle ha begått men däremot erkänt i bekännelser som var så falska att ett barn borde ha genomskådat dem. Enligt den gängse föreställningen om rättsskandalen fälldes Sture Bergwall till ansvar för brotten utifrån manipulerade förundersökningar under ledning av en ohederlig åklagare biträdd av likaledes ohederliga tjänstemän, bland dem en förhörsledare som inte drog sig för att begå mened i rättssalarna. Skandalen avslöjades av den namnkunnige, numera framlidne journalisten Hannes Råstam som postumt har backats upp av de flesta ledande opinionsbildare i Sverige. I föreliggande volym ”Rättsskandalen?!” vänder Yrsa Stenius och den ansvarige förhörsledaren, kriminalinspektör Seppo Penttinen (numera pensionerad) upp och ned på den förhärskande historien om rättsskandalen som de anser falsk. En rättsskandal har förvisso ägt rum menar Stenius och Penttinen. Men den inträffade inte när Sture Bergwall utreddes, lagfördes och dömdes för mord. Den inträffade när Bergwall frikändes på det sätt som skedde: Sture Bergwall beviljades resning i mål efter mål och frikändes utan att på nytt ställas inför rätta. Bergwall förhördes knappt på de nya berättelser han levererade till stöd för sina anspråk på att ha blivit felaktigt dömd. I förloppet som ledde till att Sture Bergwall beviljades resning i samtliga mål där han dömts för mord, tog medierna aktivt parti, hävdar Yrsa Stenius i sitt inledande avsnitt. Till sist drev medierna rentav rättsväsendet framför sig till den punkt där alla åtal lades ned. Seppo Penttinen berättar för första gången utförligt om hur polisutredningen gick till – i motsats till allt som hävdats offentligheten. Penttinens skildring av 8 års utredningsarbete i ständig närkontakt med Sture Bergwall redovisar en unik erfarenhet som han är ensam om.

Styckmordet/epilogen är den slutgiltiga boken om utredningen av "Styckmordet" (da Costa-fallet/1984). Författaren har arbetat med boken i två år, och han har tagit fram information som har varit helt okänd för allmänheten. Denna bok beskriver "den glömda utredningen", den utredning som borde ha gjorts 1984. Boken innehåller detaljerad information om Vincent/hästdödaren och flera andra suspekta personer, da Costas brottslighet, fyndplatserna, förhör, spaningsuppslag och en medicinsk diskussion. Boken innehåller också en vittnesbeskrivning av da Costas sista tid i livet. Nära den andra fyndplatsen (på Eugeniavägen) arbetade den kriminelle sexköparen Vincent, och han flydde från polisen efter da Costas död. Han kände da Costa och var välkänd på Malmskillnadsgatan. En av Vincents anställda var också kriminellt belastad, och umgicks med Monika, som bodde i en knarkkvart en kilometer från Eugeniavägen. Monika knivskar flera personer på 80-talet, och hon undersöktes av rättspsykiatrin 1982. I boken framgår det också att polisens tidslinje har varit felaktig. Da Costa dog säkerligen inte under pingsthelgen eller i närheten av pingsthelgen, och enligt flera vittnen levde da Costa betydligt längre än vad någon har trott. Den läsare som har vant sig vid den officiella versionen av da Costa-fallet kommer att bli förvånad över denna bok. Det var inte alls som vi lurades att tro av rättsväsendet och massmedia. Detta är antagligen den sista boken om da Costa-fallet. Detta är: epilogen. Kim Larsson är redaktör för tidskriften Eremonaut, kulturskribent, recensent, konstnär och författare.

One of the most elusive pursuits in the study of organized crime is developing a definition, description, or conceptual model that captures its complexity, diversity, and ever-changing nature. In our attempts to understand crime, researchers typically focus on proximate factors such as the psychology of offenders, their developmental history, and the social structure in which they are embedded. While these factors are important, they don't tell the whole story.
