Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2014 in the subject Electrotechnology, grade: B.Tech, , language: English, abstract: RADAR is an object detection system which uses radio waves to determine the range, altitude, direction, or speed of objects. The radar dish or antenna transmits pulses of radio waves or microwaves which bounce off any object in their path. Arduino is a single-board microcontroller to make using electronics in multidisciplinary projects more accessible. This project aims at making a RADAR that is efficient, cheaper and reflects all the possible techniques that a radar consists of.

When German forces occupied the coastline of the English Channel in 1940, one of the measures undertaken to give early warning of attacks from the sea or air was to set up a line of radar stations. Although this invisible screen was a passive defence, it was a serious 'barrier' that had to be neutralised for the Allied invasion to be launched in 1944.Planners at RAF Medmenham had established there the Central Interpretation Unit (CIU) to examine the results of aerialphotography over the Continent and the unit prepared plans of every enemy radar site ready for briefing pilots undertaking preinvasion attacks. Those once-secret plans are now reproduced in this book, alongside the wartime photography, with comparison views of the sites today. Where farmland has now reclaimed the sites little remains to beseen, but on others there are still significant traces of a oncepowerful weapon in the German armoury. To set the scene, Professor R. V. Jones, the Assistant Director of Intelligence at the Air Ministry, recounts the events leading up to the proposal to mount a raid on the radar site at Bruneval. The site had what became known as a 'Wurzburg' and the idea was to dismantle and remove the critical parts of the unit to bring then back to Britain and, hopefully, at the same time capture the operators for interrogation. The operation in February 1942 achieved all its aims, and over the following two years, the CIU built up a Target List with folders including detailed descriptions of all 66 sites in Belgium and France that would have a bearing on the invasion area in Normandy. Undoubtedly the information - now reproduced in this book - was of inestimable value in assuring the success of Operation 'Overlord' in June 1944.

This book gives you an in-depth look into the critical function of interference shielding for onboard radar of anti-aircraft missile systems. Intended for radar engineers and technicians specializing in anti-aircraft defense, the book reviews today's military and geo-political threats, helps you understand the functional needs of the various radar and anti-missile systems to meet those threats, and synthesizes considerations for devising practical and effective protection against interferences that affect the homing heads of anti-aircraft guided missiles. Three problematic interferences are presented and discussed in detail: polarization interference; interference to the sidelobe of onboard antennas; and interference from two points in space, including interference reflected from the earth (water) surface. The book covers the basic principles of radiolocation, including monopulse radars, and gives insight into the fundamental functional units of anti-aircraft missiles and surface-to-air missile systems. The book presents guidance methods, systems of direction finding, problems on firing over the horizon, and questions of accuracy and resolution - all important for better addressing solutions of interference shielding. You will learn how to estimate the stability of target auto-tracking under conditions of cited interferences, and better assess existing limitations on firing over the horizon by a long-range antiaircraft system, as well as hypersonic targets and satellites. This is a unique and valuable resource for engineers and technicians who are involved in the design and development of anti-aircraft guided missile systems, with special emphasis on interference immunity and protection. It can also be used as a textbook in advanced radar technology coursework and seminars.
