She conducts research in pragmatics, clinical linguistics, communication disorders, and public health reasoning. She is the author and editor of over 20 books, including most recently COVID-19 and Speech-Language Pathology (Routledge, 2023) and Language in Dementia (Cambridge University Press, 2020); she is also editor of the book series Routledge Research in Speech-Language Pathology and Cambridge Elements in Health Communication. She is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Health & Care Professions Council in the UK.
