This book results from interviews conducted with higher education leaders in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the US, and the UK. It gives the reader a deep and personal insight into what leaders faced in transforming their universities through the financial shocks, changes in learning practice, and returns to new ways of working accelerated by the upheaval of the COVID-19 pandemic.The features of the book are a series of reflections about issues faced by leaders, recorded, analysed, and reflected on at the time they happened. Martin Betts is Emeritus Professor of Griffith University, having previously served as Deputy Vice Chancellor of Engagement. He was also formerly Executive Dean of Science and Engineering at QUT. He is now the co-founder of HEDx, which has the mission of changing higher education for good.
