Auch zwei Jahrzehnte nach seinem Tod hat Michel Foucault nichts von seiner inspirierenden und irritierenden Wirkung verloren. Zwar tat sich die Pädagogik zunächst schwer mit der Rezeption seiner diskurs- und machtanalytischen Studien. Inzwischen aber ist an die Stelle anfänglicher Abwehr eine wachsende Resonanz in erziehungs- und bildungsphilosophischen Untersuchungen getreten. Foucaults eigener Intention folgend verlieren sich die hier versammelten Beiträge nicht in interpretativen Spitzfindigkeiten über das »richtige« Foucault-Verständnis, sondern knüpfen an unterschiedlich Studien Foucaults an, um den Verstrickungen von Wissen und Macht, Subjektivierung und Bildung, Erziehung und Gouvernementalität auf die Spur zu kommen.

Kennzeichen moderner Pädagogik ist ein kritisches Selbstverhältnis, d.h. sie wird gleichermaßen zum Gegenstand wie zum Medium der Kritik. Allerdings findet die Erziehungswissenschaft weniger denn je ihren kritischen Maßstab bereits vor: Sie wandelt sich von der "maß-geblichen" zu einer "maß-suchenden" Instanz. Con estas palabras se lanzó en Florianópolis en septiembre de 2018 una llamada a quienes quieren repensar la enseñanza. Este diálogo se continúa en los escritos del libro que aquí se presenta, en el que los autores dedican tiempo y atención a las formas, los gestos y las materialidades que componen su oficio común.Los textos que aquí se presentan responden a una llamada a un conjunto de actividades que tuvieron lugar en septiembre de 2018 en Florianópolis, Brasil. La llamada decía lo siguiente: "Las nuevas formas de definir la función docente (esas que se derivan de la así llamada cultura del aprendizaje) están destruyendo el oficio de profesor. Con el espantajo de la crítica al profesor tradicional, el chantaje empresarial de la calidad y la innovación, la redefinición neoliberal de las funciones de la escuela y la ayuda de un lenguaje anti-institucional y anti-autoritario digno de mejor causa, ese oficio que Hannah Arendt relacionaba con la transmisión y la renovación del mundo común está siendo descualificado y arrasado, y las personas que lo ejercen están siendo reconvertidas en mediadores, coachers, animadores de aula, entrenadores en competencias, gestores de emociones o facilitadores de aprendizajes, al mismo tiempo que están siendo sometidas, cada vez más, al control y al reciclaje permanente, a la precariedad laboral, a la pérdida de su autoridad simbólica y de su autonomía profesional y, lo que es peor, a la disolución del sentido público (y, por tanto, independiente) de su trabajo".A partir de ahí, y tomando como punto de partida los libros que componen la Trilogía del Oficio, de Jorge Larrosa, los autores de este libro dedican tiempo y atención a las formas, los gestos y las materialidades que componen su oficio común.
