Magnus Dahlstedt – författare

Hårdare kan ingen vara är ett blandband i bokform. Elva av hårdrockens bästa låtar guidar oss genom de årtionden då en ny musikgenre tog form, muterade, och spreds som en löpeld över världen. Detta är berättelsen om hur den hårda rocken ruskade om allt i sin väg, bröt mot konventioner, stämplades som farlig och förändrade liv.

Magnus Dahlstedt och Mathias Henrysson varvar personliga minnen med historiska exposéer, där hårdrockens rottrådar spåras bakåt i tiden och vidare in i våra dagar. Vad var det egentligen som skapade hårdrockens mystik och gav den en så central plats i så många människors liv? Resultatet är en berättelse som inte bara handlar om hårdrocken och dess inbitna fans, utan också om samhället igår, idag och imorgon.

Antologin Brandtal består av ett fyrtiotal texter som behandlar vår tids brännande samhällsfrågor. Skribenterna är unga, äldre, kända, okända och deras texter är skrivna med olika temperament, röst, ton och stil. De är forskare, tidigare deltagare i Ortens bästa penna, barnmorskor, lärare, författare, socionomer, jurister, diakoner, präster, ideellt arbetande, verksamma inom andra samhällssektorer och insiktsfulla. 

I Brandtal skriver de om sina hjärtefrågor i form av brev, dikter, ilskna utropstecken och även saklig prosa. Bokens ämnen kretsar kring sjukvård, skola, socialt och polisiärt arbete, barnmorskearbete, klimat, kultur, orten, det samiska, krig och fred, politik, rasism och integration, äldrevård, forskning, folkbildning, nationalism, välgörenhet, makt och maktlöshet, anhörigfrågor, SiS-boenden, hbtqia, fattigdom, marknadstänkande, bostäder, brottsförebyggande arbete, barn och våld, arbetsmarknad och mycket mer.

Gemensamt för texterna är att det finns en tro: det kan bli bättre.

Sverige har länge betraktats som en demokratisk förebild och ett öppet och solidariskt välfärdssamhälle. Under 2000-talet har social ojämlikhet och boendesegregering ökat, åtföljd av rasism och en allt mer restriktiv flyktingpolitik.

Idag är Sverige är en nation i ombildning. Åtstramningspolitik och högerpopulism har fått bred förankring i partipolitiken. Samtidigt uppstår motrörelser, där civilsamhälleliga aktörer kräver en fördjupad demokrati och social rättvisa. Vi står inför ett skifte. Kommer en nyliberal ekonomisk politik att smälta samman med en auktoritär, rasistisk populism? Eller är de nya rörelserna en öppning mot ett mer inkluderande, jämlikt och rättvist samhälle, där visionen för framtiden byggs på hopp och optimism inte rädsla och hot?

Magnus Dahlstedt är professor i socialt arbete vid Linköpings universitet. Forskar om välfärd och medborgarskapande med särskilt fokus på unga, inkludering och exkludering kopplat till migration.  

Lisa Kings är lektor i socialt arbete vid institutionen för samhällsvetenskaper vid Södertörns högskola. Forskar om urbanteori, civilsamhället, sociala rörelser, ojämlikhet och vardagsliv med särskilt fokus på samhällsarbete och social mobilisering i städer.  

Vanja Lozic är lektor i pedagogik vid Malmö universitet. Forskar om skola, etnicitet och urbana rum med fokus på ungdomsidentiteter, historiedidaktik, undervisning och samverkan, förändringar i synen på brottsprevention och brottsförebyggande arbete.  

Åsa Lundqvist är professor i sociologi vid Lunds universitet. Forskar om välfärdspolitik och familjerelationer, särskilt framväxten av arbetsmarknads- och familjepolitikens påverkan på genusrelationer samt framväxten av föräldrastödets politik.  

Nedzad Mesik är fil dr i etnicitet och migration och universitetslärare i samhälle och kultur i ett skolperspektiv, vid Remeso, Linköpings universitet. Forskar om migration och integration, med särskild fokus på sociala rörelsers engagemang för prekära migrantarbetare, nyanlända och ungdomar.  

Diana Mulinari är fil dr i sociologi och professor i Genusvetenskap. Forskar om jämlikhet, social förändring, genus och migration samt transnationella praktiker och högerpopulism.  

Paula Mulinari är lektor i socialt arbete vid Malmö universitet. Forskar om arbetsliv, genus och rasism med fokus på prekarisering och motstånd, ekonomisk sårbarhet och emotioners roll i arbetsprocesser.  

Anders Neergaard är professor vid Remeso, Linköpings universitet. Forskar om arbetsliv i omvandling med fokus på etnicitet/rasifiering, klass och kön samt högerpopulism och rasism.  

René León Rosales är fil dr i etnologi och forskningsledare vid Mångkulturellt centrum, Stockholm. Forskar om segregation, diskriminering och rasifiering av staden, ungdomars identitetsprocesser och urbana rättviserörelser.  

Simone Scarpa är forskare vid Remeso, Linköpings universitet, fil dr i sociologi och socialt arbete. Hans forskning handlar om urban segregering och social polarisering, välfärdsstatlig omvandling, migration samt analys av fattigdom och ojämlikhet.  

Carl-Ulrik Schierup är professor emeritus vid Remeso, Linköpings universitet. Hans forskning handlar om migration, prekarisering, medborgarskap, etnicitet och rasism, nationalism samt nya och gamla sociala rörelser.  

Anders Trumberg är fil dr i Kulturgeografi och forskare vid Institutionen för pedagogik, didaktik och utbildningsstudier vid Uppsala universitet. Forskar om det svenska utbildningssystemet, segregation och likvärdighet kopplat till elevers val av skola.

Viktor Vesterberg är fil dr i etnicitet och migration och postdoktor i socialt arbete vid Institutionen för samhälls- och välfärdsstudier, Linköpings universitet. Forskar om utbildning och lärande med fokus på medborgarskap, inkludering och exkludering.  

Aleksandra Ålund är professor emerita, Remeso, Linköping Universitet. Hennes forskning handlar om etnicitet och migration med fokus på medborgarskap, genus, kulturell produktion och urbana rättviserörelser.

Både i stort och smått, både nära och långt borta, påminns vi om betydelsen av etnicitet och migration. Frågor om globalisering, migration, etniska relationer, nationalism, arbetets etniska segregering och det mångkulturella samhället har på senare tid rönt allt större uppmärksamhet i den offentliga debatten. Om författarnaBokens redaktörer, Magnus Dahlstedt, docent i etnicitet, och Anders Neergaard, docent i etnicitet, är båda verksamma vid REMESO (Institutet för forskning om migration, etnicitet och samhälle) vid Linköpings universitet.

Samtliga författare verkar inom migrations- och etnicitetsforskningen och arbetar själva med de begrepp som behandlas. Such encouragement to disclose the self has proliferated through discourses on lifelong learning through which each citizen is encouraged to become a constant learner. Adult Education and the Formation of Citizens turns attention towards normative claims about who adults should become through education, and what capacities and skills adults need to develop to become included in society as ‘full’ citizens. Through these debates, adults are construed as not yet citizens, despite already being citizens in a formal sense; this book problematises such regimes of truth and their related notions of the possibilities and impossibilities of adult education and citizenship.

Drawing on empirical examples from the two main adult education institutions in Sweden, folk high schools and municipal adult education, it argues that, through current regimes of truth, these institutions become spaces for the re-shaping of the "abnormal" citizen. The book suggests that only certain futures of citizenship and its educational provision are made possible, while other futures are ignored or even made impossible to imagine. Offering a unique focus on critically problematising the role of adult education in relation to the fostering and shaping of citizens, the book addresses the important contemporary challenges of the role of adult education in a time of migration.
