Es probable que la educación siga jugándolo en el futuro pero tras un inevitable proceso de autoreflexión y, también, en gran medida, de reinvención. Los textos que componen este libro, unos escritos ad hoc y otros recopilados de entre la innumerable producción teórica sobre la materia, pretenden ofrecer al lector una visión de conjunto de la revolución que suponen las TIC. Revolución no tanto en el sentido histórico habitual de sustitución de unos poderes socieconómicos o políticos por otros (aunque algo hay, y podrá haber, también de esto), como en el literal de ''revolver'' todo lo establecido. Revolución centrada en la producción y enseñanza de la cultura y en cómo se ven afectadas las relaciones sociales que son, conjuntamente, su causa y efecto. Se ofrece una visión general de los cambios técnicos y socioculturales que dan lugar a una nueva sociedad, la denominada Sociedad del Conocimiento, y una descripción sin pretensión de exhaustividad, de la muy variada y novedosa temática técnica y relacional que incorpora.

This book presents an ethnographic and discourse analytic study of a highly popular online fan fiction writing space. Its analyses highlight the range of sophisticated literacy practices that English language learning youth engage in through their fan-related activities. Discussion also centers on how opportunities for language socialization, literacy, and identity development converge and diverge between academic settings and informal learning contexts such as fan fiction sites.
