The conference covers a wide range of ranging from foundations of agent theory and engineering aspects of agent systems, to emerging interdisciplinary areas of agent-based research.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 17th International Workshop on Knowledge Management and Acquisition for Intelligent Systems, PKAW 2020, held in Yokohama, Japan, in January 2021.

The 10 full papers and 5 short papers included in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 28 initial submissions. PKAW primarily focuses on the multidisciplinary approach of the human-driven and data-driven knowledge acquisition, which is the key concept that has remained unchanged since the workshop has been established.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 29th Australasian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, AI 2016, held in Hobart, TAS, Australia, in December 2016.

The proceedings also contains 2 contributions of the AI 2016 doctoral consortium and 6 contributions of the SMA 2016.

This book addresses several important aspects of complex automated negotiations and introduces a number of modern approaches for facilitating agents to conduct complex negotiations. It demonstrates that autonomous negotiation is one of the most important areas in the field of autonomous agents and multi-agent systems. Further, it presents complex automated negotiation scenarios that involve negotiation encounters that may have, for instance, a large number of agents, a large number of issues with strong interdependencies and/or real-time constraints.

eScience allows scientific research to be carried out in highly distributed environments. The complex nature of the interactions in an eScience infrastructure, which often involves a range of instruments, data, models, application, people and computational facilities, suggests there is a need for data provenance and data management (DPDM). The W3C Provenance Working Group defines the provenance of a resource as a “record that describes entities and processes involved in producing and delivering or otherwise influencing that resource”. It has been widely recognised that provenance is a critical issue to enable sharing, trust, authentication and reproducibility of eScience process.

 Data Provenance and Data Management in eScience identifies the gaps between DPDM foundations and their practice within eScience domains including clinical trials, bioinformatics and radio astronomy. The book covers important aspects of fundamental research in DPDM including provenance representation and querying. It also explores topics that go beyond the fundamentals including applications. This book is a unique reference for DPDM with broad appeal to anyone interested in the practical issues of DPDM in eScience domains.

This book focuses on all aspects of complex automated negotiations, which are studied in the field of autonomous agents and multi-agent systems. This book consists of two parts. I: Agent-Based Complex Automated Negotiations and II: Automated Negotiation Agents Competition. The chapters in Part I are extended versions of papers presented at the 2012 international workshop on Agent-Based Complex Automated Negotiation (ACAN), after peer reviews by three Program Committee members. Part II examines in detail ANAC 2012 (The Third Automated Negotiating Agents Competition), in which automated agents that have different negotiation strategies and are implemented by different developers are automatically negotiated in the several negotiation domains. ANAC is an international competition in which automated negotiation strategies, submitted by a number of universities and research institutes across the world, are evaluated in tournament style. The purpose of the competition is to steer the research in the area of bilateral multi-issue, closed negotiation. This book also includes the rules, results, agents and domain descriptions for ANAC 2011 as submitted by the organizers and finalists.
