I allt högre grad ser vi krav på historiskt erkännande för gångna tiders oförrätter som del av upprättelse- och försoningsprocesser. Sådana krav kan komma från underordnade grupper, men reses inte sällan också från forskarhåll och blir del av en pågående diskussion om historiepraktikens etiska och politiska dimensioner. Vilket ansvar har historikern, inte bara gentemot det förflutna, utan också i relation till det nu i vilket hen verkar? Och hur förhåller sig detta ansvar till de historier genom vilka akademiska kunskapspraktiker bidragit till underordning och förtryck? Historia skrivs alltid av någon och någonstans ifrån. Tiden, platsen och historikerns position spelar roll för vilken historia som tar form, och vem som genom denna historia kan tala. Men historieskrivningens praktik är inte begränsad till den akademiska disciplinen. Historieskrivning sker också genom museer, hembygdsföreningar, populärvetenskap, konst och skönlitteratur, underhållningsbranschen och inte minst i de politiska diskurserna. Den som ägnar sig åt historia måste därför också förhålla sig till hur den egna praktiken relaterar till alla dessa berättelser om det förflutna, och på vilka sätt de ger mening åt nuet. I "Etik, politik och historikerns ansvar", som är den andra fristående delen i trebandsverket "Historiens hemvist", samlas tolv forskare som på olika sätt förhåller sig till frågor om etiskt och politiskt ansvar i historieskrivning. Texterna behandlar allt från det akademiska historieämnets förändringar till historieskrivning bland revolutionära socialister, profetiska missionärer, människorättsaktivister och poeter. Frågor om historiebruk, mothistorier, våld, emancipation, historiska lärdomar och historieskrivandets gränser står i fokus. Volymen är redigerad av Patricia Lorenzoni, idéhistoriker verksam vid Linköpings universitet, och Ulla Manns, idéhistoriker och professor i genusvetenskap vid Södertörns högskola, båda knutna till forskningsprogrammet "Tid, minne, representation".

Antologin "Tid för Europa. Gemenskap, minne, hopp" handlar om skilda sätt att föreställa sig och erfara tiden och hur dessa relaterar sig till politiska gemenskaper i Europa. I fokus står en tysk tradition som följs från Kant och upplysningens stora förhoppningarna fram till vår samtid, präglad av minnet av krig och förödelse, men också av apokalyptiska stämningar och ekonomiska kriser.
