Den fortsätter sedan med historien om 1990-talets 940 och 960 som de sista åren döptes om till S90 och V90. Boken är skriven av motorjournalisten Fredrik Nyblad och bygger på en rad intervjuer med ingenjörer och formgivare som var med och tog fram modellerna. Här finns också alla de specialmodeller som byggdes av Yngve Nilssons Karosserifabrik. Ett kapitel ägnas åt styling och tillbehör och ett annat om 700-seriens motorsporthistoria. Modellbilar och leksaksbilar föreställande Volvo 700/900 finns också med och boken avslutas med en omfattande faktadel med modelländringar år för år. När produktionen avslutades i februari 1998 var det inte bara modellerna 940, S90 och V90 som gick i graven. Med Volvo 940 hade också den sista bakhjulsdrivna bilen från Göteborg med gjutjärnsmotor och stel bakaxel tillverkats. ”De sista av sitt slag – Volvo 760, 740, 780, 940 och 960” är på 144 sidor och är på svenska med sammanfattningar av varje kapitel på engelska.
