Over the past decades, collaborative initiatives between luxury brands and the art world have been increasing in number and relevance. At first treated as a mere trend or as a marketing stunt, in time luxury-art collaborations have come to be acknowledged as one of the most effective ways luxury brands and artists can position themselves in today’s market, engaging with their clients and audiences. This book sheds light on the socio-cultural valence of luxury-art collaborations. The book explores luxury-art collaborations in the context of postmodern consumption, i.e. as a phenomenon deeply rooted in and emerging from the ways postmodern individuals value and consume objects, contents and ideas. More specifically, the book covers: how collaborations reflect the postmodern condition and liquid consumption practices (hybrid, temporary, hyperreal); the impact of luxury-art collaborations on the evolution of luxury stores and museums, and the emergence of hybrid spaces (art fairs, nomadic exhibitions, pop-up stores) – the temporal features of luxury-art collaborations (shortlived duration and fast-paced tempo) – how luxury-art collaborations reshuffle traditional status dynamics while drawing new boundaries of social distinction based on experience and access – why luxury brands and creatives are redefining their conventional identities, morphing into cultural entities and bricoleurs. The book appeals to a wide range of readers, from academics and students in art business, luxury studies, consumption behaviour, to professionals in the luxury industry and the art world. The book is also relevant to an international readership of non-specialists interested in current social and cultural matters.

This book critically analyses and documents a shift of ethical consumption patterns through Western yoga commodities, services, and transformational experiences that affect women within consumer culture. Western yoga uses fashion and luxury branding strategies to promote commodities that support an individualised, exclusive, and privatised quest for meaning, ritual, belonging, and community. These new status signifiers demonstrate how Western yoga has become an essential contemporary sign and symbol of the aspirational class. This book thus discusses how aspirational Western yoga brands, yoga studios, and social media influencers commodify wellness by distributing cultural capital as postfeminist spiritual capital through the promotion of exclusive and consciously minded aesthetic and ethical transformational experiences within the wellness industry.Through the contemporary case studies presented in this book, the reader will be exposed to the complex tactics that yoga brands, yoga studios, and ‘yogalebrities’ use to generate aspirational conscious luxury commodities that promise entangled physical and spiritual distinction. This book reveals how yoga practitioners are encouraged to arrive at self-optimisation and self-empowerment not after the trials and tribulations of the human experience but after a highly controlled and exclusive experiential economic transaction that anchors the ego to bodily labour and elitist luxury fashion design ideals. These case studies will expose the reader to how these new consumption patterns converge, stylising and commodifying the psychic life of women. This book will appeal to an academic audience with an interest in fashion and luxury studies, luxury management, consumer culture, gender studies, and critical spiritual practices.

The Business of Vegan Luxury is the first in-depth, holistic examination of the vegan movement within the luxury industry. Combining historical, theoretical, and managerial perspectives, the authors challenge preconceived ideas and misconceptions to promote a new dialogue around the potential and development of veganism and luxury. This book explores both veganism and luxury as individual essential pillars before uniting them to clarify that vegan luxury is a topic that lies at the intersection of two complex debates in their own right, which, for a long time, remained distant and ran in parallel. The meeting of these two universes represents an opportunity to explore an evolving social phenomenon that brings together issues of both a moral and economic nature. This book provides a comprehensive analysis of the subject, covering topics such as the market for vegan luxury, sustainability, innovation, and the future trajectory of the industry. This unique book will appeal to a wide range of readers, from academics and students in luxury and fashion management, marketing, consumer behaviour, and business ethics, to professionals in the luxury industry.
