The rapid growth in Internet, World Wide Web and Intranet systems has led to a demand for increased sophistication in established information services, engineering techniques and methods to improve the development of information systems in a World Wide Web environment. This text addresses key state-of-the-art developments in Internet-based IS engineering. It contains selected papers presented and discussed at the International Conference on Engineering Information Systems in the Internet Context, which was sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and held in Kanazawa, Japan in September 2002.

Since the early 1980's, the IFIP WG8.1 conferences have provided a forum for the presentation and exchange of research results and practical experiences in the field of Information System Engineering.

This volume contains the papers presented at the 5th International Conference on Object-Oriented Information Systems, OOIS '98, held at the University de La Sorbonne, Paris, France, 9-11 September 1998. The papers outline research in object-oriented concepts and principles, object-oriented methods and tools, as well as reports on industrial projects from both researchers and practitioners in the field. The conference especially highlighted areas of significant interest to industry, which provide innovative directions for the development of next generation systems such as: coping with legacy systems; transition to object technology; lessons learned from large scale projects using objects; and object relational design.

This book constitutes the proceedings of 26th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering, CAiSE 2014, held in Thessaloniki, Greece in June 2014. The 41 papers and 3 keynotes presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 226 submissions. The accepted papers were presented in 13 sessions: clouds and services; requirements; product lines; requirements elicitation; processes; risk and security; process models; data mining and streaming; process mining; models; mining event logs; databases; software engineering.

The OOIS series of conferences has provided a forum for the presentation and exchange of academic research and industrial experiences within the ?eld of information systems, based on object-oriented technology. The 8th International Conference on OOIS was held in the University of Montpellier from 2nd to 5th September 2002. The conference focused on the - sign, maintenance and implementation of web-based information systems. The ?rst day consisted of preconference workshops. The workshop themes included the specialization/generalization hierarchy, reuse, optimization in web-based - formation systems, and model-driven software development. The main conference program also included four invited papers, namely "C- porate Semantic Webs" by Dr. Rose Dieng, INRIA, France, "A Framework for De?ning E-business Models" by Prof. Yves Pigneur, University of Lausanne, Switzerland, "GRID in E-business" by Pierre Sabloni'ere, IBM, France, and "The Latest Development on Cognitive Informatics" by Dr. Yingxu Wang, University of Calgary, Canada. The conference attracted 116 papers from more than 20 countries and the program committee accepted 34 regular papers and 17 short papers.The selected papers included the following themes: - advanced object-information systems, - web-based information systems, - knowledge management in object information systems, - CORBA, - e-business, - software metrics, - object databases.

This guide presents the TODOS methodology and design support environment for office information systems development. In TODOS, a method for the definition of an office system is proposed, and tools support the developer in different design phases, in order to analyze results and to present them to final users of the office systems. The main goal of the TODOS approach is to avoid the unnecessary re-implementation of hardware and software components available on the market. The book is mainly oriented towards professionals looking for a method for office system development. It may also be of benefit to office system managers interested in exploring the possibilities of office information system development within their organizations.

This volume presents the proceedings of the fifth Conferenceon Advanced Information Systems Engineering, CAiSE '93, heldat the University of Paris-Sorbonne in June 1993.Initiated by J. Solvbergfrom the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim,Norway, this series of conferences evolved from a Nordicaudience to a truly European one. All the conferences haveattracted international papers of high quality, indicatingthe needfor an international conference on advancedinformation systems engineering topics.The spectrum of contributions contained in the presentproceedings extends from inevitable and still controversialissues regarding modeling of information systems, viadevelopment environments and experiences, to various novelviews forsomespecific aspects of information systemsdevelopment such as reuse, schema integration, andevolution.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 14th International Working Conference on Requirements Engineering: Foundation for Software Quality, REFSQ 2008, held in Montpellier, France, in June 2008. The 17 revised full papers presented together with an introduction of the editors and the keynote lecture were carefully reviewed and selected from 50 submissions. The papers are organized in thematic sections on fitness of RE, requirements elicitation, industrial experience of RE, innovative systems, maturing research, and empirical studies.

The 26th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling in Auckland, New Zealand, hosted six workshops which allowed participants to focus their p- sentations and discussions on advanced topics that cannot easily ?t the general conference scope. Thirteen good quality proposals were received and nine were selected. Due to the similarity of their scope, two pairs were suggested to merge, leading to seven proposals. One workshop attracted fewer submissions than expected, so that its selected papers were integrated into the conference. Finally, six wo- shopswerekept.Interestingly,fourofthem(FP-UML,ONISW,QoIS,SeCoGIS) were a sequel of workshops that were held in the last few years, while two were new (CMLSA, RIGiM), exhibiting both the maturity and the innovation of the workshops. Following the call for papers, we received 114 complete submissions, from which 40 quality papers wereselected, giving an acceptance rate of 35% (a fairly standard score for workshops). The following six workshops were organized: – ConceptualModellingforLifeSciencesApplications (CMLSA2007),chaired by Yi-Ping Phoebe Chen and Sven Hartmann. This workshopaddressed the speci?c challenges posed by the large data volumes, the complexity and the data and software heterogeneity involved by life science applications. – Foundations and Practices of UML (FP-UML 2007), chaired by Juan Trujillo and Je?rey Parsons. The third edition of this workshop gathered researchers and practitioners on topics related to data warehouses, security, model transformation, state diagrams development and model quality.

This book constitutes the refereed joint proceedings of seven international workshops held in conjunction with the 27th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2008, in Barcelona, Spain, in October 2008. The 42 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 108 submissions. Topics addressed by the workshops are conceptual modeling for life sciences applications (CMLSA 2008), evolution and change in data management (ECDM 2008), foundations and practices of UML (FP-UML 2008), modeling mobile applications and services (M2AS 2008), requirements, intentions and goals in conceptual modeling (RIGiM 2008), semantic and conceptual issues in geographic information systems (SeCoGIS 2008), and Web information systems modeling (WISM 2008).

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 23rd International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering, CAiSE 2011, held in London, UK, in June 2011. The 42 revised full papers and 5 revised short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 320 submissions. In addition the book contains the abstracts of 2 keynote speeches. The contributions are organized in topical sections on requirements; adaptation and evolution; model transformation; conceptual design; domain specific languages; case studies and experiences; mining and matching; business process modelling; validation and quality; and service and management.

In 2013, the International Conference on Advance Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE) turns 25. Initially launched in 1989, for all these years the conference has provided a broad forum for researchers working in the area of Information Systems Engineering. To reflect on the work done so far and to examine prospects for future work, the CAiSE Steering Committee decided to present a selection of seminal papers published for the conference during these years and to ask their authors, all prominent researchers in the field, to comment on their work and how it has developed over the years.The scope of the papers selected covers a broad range of topics related to modeling and designing information systems, collecting and managing requirements, and with special attention to how information systems are engineered towards their final development and deployment as software components.With this approach, the book provides not only a historical analysis on how information systemsengineering evolved over the years, but also a fascinating social network analysis of the research community. Additionally, many inspiring ideas for future research and new perspectives in this area are sparked by the intriguing comments of the renowned authors.
