Building Distinctive Brand Assets is for anyone with a brand logo, font or colour scheme, and is essential reading for those who have wondered if (or have been told) it's time for a change. Readers will learn how to set up a long-term strategy to build a strong brand identity, and how to make use of knowledge, metrics and management systems in order to build and protect a brand's Distinctive Assets. Building Distinctive Brand Assets is divided into three sections that capture the processes involved in brand asset creation, implementation and ongoing management. The first section is focuses on strategy, and covers how Distinctive Assets are created and their role in a broader brand equity building. The second section covers measurement approaches, and how to use and interpret key metrics. The third section delves into the strengths and weaknesses of different types of assets and introduces the idea of a Distinctive Asset palette. This section also outlines how to set up a Distinctive Asset management system to provide an early warning system to identify potential threats before they evolve into major issues.

This book will change the way you think about marketing forever. Following the success of international bestseller How Brands Grow: What Marketers Dont Know, How Brands Grow Part 2 takes readers further on a journey to smarter, evidence-based marketing. How Brands Grow Part 2 is about the fundamentals of buying behaviours and brand performance – fundamentals that provide a consistent roadmap for brand growth, and improved marketing productivity. This revised edition includes updates to all chapters and the addition of a new chapter, 'Getting Down to Business-to-Business Markets'.

This book provides evidence-based answers to the key questions asked by marketers every day. Tackling issues such as how brands grow, how advertising really works, what price promotions really do and how loyalty programs really affect loyalty, How Brands Grow presents decades of research in a style that is written for marketing professionals to grow their brands. It is the first book to present these laws in context and to explore their meaning and application. The most distinctive element to this book is that the laws presented are tried and tested; they have been found to hold over varied conditions, time and countries. This is contra to most marketing texts and indeed, much information provides evidence that much modern marketing theory is far from soundly based.

The book is about brand health tracking, one of the biggest (and most costly) sources of insights about brand performance and inputs into brand strategy that marketers engage in. But yet most trackers were designed pre-How Brands Grow, and so suffer from being not fit for purpose to provide insights to managers looking to grow their brands. Jenni has conducted R&D into brand health tracking for the past decade, much of this is published in a disparate range of academic marketing journals, some of it is not published because it is more technical. This book brings together that R&D with Jenni and the Ehrenberg-Bass Institutes background in How Brands Grow to help brand managers and researchers design an evidence based, useful brand health tracking research instrument and help them get the most out of the information to inform their recommendations and implications.

Services Marketing Second Edition helps students understand the role that services marketing plays in creating customer value, and the increasing contributions that services make to national economies. Service marketers need to understand the practical implications associated with the definitive characteristics of services because that knowledge will enable them to recognise, and effectively manage, the marketing opportunities arising from global service-based economies. This text encourages students to develop an understanding of the service processes that create value for identified target markets. An analytical learning approach, based on applying established and evolving services marketing concepts for Australasian organisations, is the rationale of the pedagogy adopted by this text. That approach is warranted for two reasons: - Australian and New Zealand service organisations are developing closer economic ties with the growing markets of their South-East Asian counterparts. - By understanding Australasian service organisations, students will be able to adopt an international perspective on services marketing.

The goal of Public Relations and Strategic Communication is to bring public relations and communication theories to life. Advanced skills in relationship management, communication and reputation management are required in every organisation and have become even more important with the rapid evolution of digital technologies such as social media. Public Relations and Strategic Communication aims to educate readers about this ever-changing landscape through the clear explanation and practical application of theory. Throughout this text, public relations and communication theories have been dissected, critically analysed and explained in clear language using contemporary Australian examples. Each theory is also demonstrated in its entirety, particularly focusing on how it underpins core public relations functions. This approach aims to teach public relations students theoretical concepts from a micro and macro level. The incorporation of interviews with industry practitioners also provides students with further insight into the realities of public relations and strategic communication as a profession. Public Relations and Strategic Communication aims to make theory accessible and interesting by taking a storytelling approach to ensure readers remain engaged throughout their learning journey. The intention is that this text sparks with students an ongoing curiosity about public relations and communication theory and the profession overall.

Literacies in Early Childhood takes a deliberately eclectic approach to taking on new ideas about literacy teaching and learning in early childhood education, and challenges conventional thinking on new and returning debates about the 'best' way to teach early literacy. The book is made up of four sections. Section 1 provides a balanced foundation for thinking about how literacy can be understood. Readers are provided with insight into a broad range of issues relevant to being a literacy teacher, and are invited to engage with different dimensions of the range of literacy repertoires required in today's times. Section 2 considers notions of diversity by looking at issues including learning English as a second or additional language, early childhood programs for ATSI children, social justice in early childhood provision, and aspects of interculturalism. In Section 3 the collection focuses specifically on the engagement of young children with pedagogy and the curriculum offered to them. This section includes a diverse selection of extracts and examples from research and practice. In the final section, the authors call literacy teachers to take up a position on what it means to learn literacy and teach literacy in today's contexts. This collection is put forward not to provide definitive answers, but instead to open discussions in classrooms, lecture halls, and school staff rooms. Literacies in Early Childbood intends to be the impetus for much intellectual work toward providing quality and equity in literacy education across schools and early childhood education contexts.

One of the most significant trends in the evolution of global tax systems has been the rise from relative obscurity of thin capitalisation rules, which are perceived as anti-avoidance rules. Despite their prevalence, it is unclear whether thin capitalisation rules: (1) attain tax neutrality (specifically, do these rules mitigate the tax-induced cross-border debt bias); and, (2) are effective in both theory and practice. Taxing Multinationals approaches the issue of thin capitalisation from a novel perspective by conceptualising the cross-border debt bias as the 'disease' and thin capitalisation as merely the 'symptom'. The overarching question guiding this book is whether, given the opportunity to start over, the tax-induced cross-border debt bias would be better addressed by retaining thin capitalisation rules in their current form or whether an alternative reform would be more suited to dealing with this 'disease'. Taxing Multinationals: Preventing tax base erosion through the reform of cross-border intercompany deduction is the seventh volume in the Australasian Tax Teachers' Association (ATTA) Doctoral Series.

Assessment is central to learning. It is not just about testing or measuring learning; it is a key part of the whole learning process. Positive experiences of assessment can enable students' capacity for self-directed learning throughout life, making them curious, goal-orientated, aware of success criteria (or able to formulate their own criteria), and effective evaluators of their own work. There have been significant changes in how curriculum authorities, schools and teachers approach learning, teaching and assessment. Teachers need to know how to design effective and engaging assessment, how to assist and encourage their students, how to provide feedback that enables learning, how to make judgements and to measure the extent to which students reached the standards at the end of a learning period, how to interpret data and report on students' progress. This text demonstrates how and why assessment should be firmly embedded in the day-to-day practices of teaching and learning. Teachers learn as much from the assessment as their students do. The reflective practices required to capitalise on this knowledge to further learning are addressed throughout the book. This book will give pre-service teachers, and current teachers as well, ways of developing the skills, competencies and confidence necessary to conduct assessments that will complement their teaching and enrich their students' learning.
