Marie-Theres Wacker reads both books with an approach that is sensitive to gender and identity issues. The book of Baruch—with its reflections on guilt of the fathers, with its transformation of wisdom into the Book of God’s commandments, and with its strong symbol of mother and queen Jerusalem—offers a new and creative digest of Torah, writings, and prophets but seems to address primarily learned men. Als "Bücher am Rande der Bibel" werden die Schriften, die im Judentum der hellenistisch-römischen Zeit entstanden sind, oft gering geschätzt - oder als "Verschluss-Sache" mit Enthüllungspotenzial verzerrend überschätzt. De facto geht es dabei um Literatur, die "im Kontext der Bibel" entstanden ist, d. h. sich auf ein entstehendes Korpus von bereits normativ werdenden Schriften bezieht. Vorgefundene Konzepte, darunter auch Konstruktionen des Geschlechterverhältnisses, werden kreativ neuformiert. Der vorliegende Band sichtet eine Auswahl dieser frühjüdischen Schriften unter Genderperspektiven, geht auf die weiblichen Gründungsfiguren Israels und ihre Rezeption in unterschiedlichen Texten ein und analysiert mit Werken von Philo und Josephus sowie den Qumranschriften auch umfangreichere Textkorpora auf genderspezifische Fragen hin.

Wer von »Biblischer Hermeneutik« spricht, geht von der Überzeugung aus, dass die eine Wahrheit der zweigeteilten christlichen Bibel einer Auslegung bedarf, welche die Verbindlichkeit ihrer Botschaft wahrnimmt und verständlich weitersagt. Band 12 des »Jahrbuchs für Biblische Theologie« stellt sich dieser Aufgabe in mehrfacher Hinsicht. Er behandelt die Frage, ob eine Biblische Theologie sachlich sowohl vom Alten als auch vom Neuen Testament ausgehend konzipiert werden kann. Mehrere Beiträge sehen im hermeneutischen Problem des Alten Testaments die Kardinalfrage einer Biblischen Hermeneutik. Diese so zu beantworten, dass auch jüdische Positionen angemessen mitreflektiert werden können, stellt eine besondere Herausforderung für christliche Exegeten dar. La idea de lo apocalíptico sugiere actualmente el «final de los tiempos», los horrores y la condensación del tiempo histórico, que no parece dejar apenas espacio a proyectos utópicos o signos de esperanza de un nuevo comienzo. En este número abordamos qué significa lo «apocalíptico» en la tradición bíblica, cómo esta tradición sigue viva o es reformulada de forma nueva en la teología cristiana contemporánea, y qué consecuencias surgen de ella.

A lo largo de la historia, frecuentemente la religión ha estado conectada a la identidad y funcionado como soporte o defensa de la política dominante. Surge esta pregunta: ¿cómo puede la religión devenir y seguir siendo la principal fuerza motora de acción no violenta, reconciliación y búsqueda de justicia en sociedades afectadas por conflictos graves? Para ser verdaderas constructoras de la paz, las religiones necesitan tener en cuenta la naturaleza fluida y porosa de todas las identidades -incluidas las religiosas-, cultivar un sentido de identidad poliédrica en la vida de los individuos y de las comunidades, juntar fuerzas con iniciativas de la sociedad civil y de movimientos sociales, promover la equidad y la justicia, y ayudar a sanar recuerdos y reescribir la historia.

Las neurociencias actuales están haciendo evolucionar el modo en el que vemos, percibimos e imaginamos al ser humano y la conciencia. Y, por consiguiente, también afectan a nuestra forma de entender la relación con Dios, a nuestra comprensión y a nuestro discurso sobre Dios. ¿Cómo abordan estas cuestiones y debaten con ellas la filosofía, la antropología, la teología y la ética? Manteniendo siempre su capacidad crítica, estas disciplinas no pueden ignorar los resultados y los métodos de la investigación científica con el objetivo de analizar la pertinencia de las proposiciones que se hacen con relación al futuro del mundo y del hombre, de su progreso y de su salvación.

En este año de 2017 se conmemora el V Centenario de la Reforma, porque el 31 de octubre de 1517 es la fecha en la que Lutero clavó sus 95 tesis cuestionando el poder y la legitimidad de las indulgencias. Lo que solo era una disputa teológica más entre las muchas que se dieron en el siglo XVI, se convirtió rápidamente en una guerra de panfletos a favor y en contra de las indulgencias, y sobre el poder de la Iglesia y de sus ministros para concederlas. Posteriormente, las tesis, que contenían una disputa de un modo que era habitual entonces, desencadenaron un proceso que conduciría a la ruptura de la cristiandad occidental.
